The match, played in front of a packed Wembley crowd, saw a surprisingly dominant first half from Borussia Dortmund. Niclas Füllkrug also hit the woodwork as Dortmund consistently threatened Real Madrid’s goal. However, Real Madrid’s veteran goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, was instrumental in keeping the scoreline level, making crucial saves to deny Dortmund.

Despite Dortmund’s spirited display and control of much of the first half, the deadlock remained unbroken at halftime.

The second half, however, saw a shift in momentum. Real Madrid, known for their ability to find a way to win on the biggest stages, began to assert their dominance. The breakthrough finally came in the 74th minute when veteran right-back Dani Carvajal, a consistent performer for Los Blancos, rose highest to powerfully head home a corner kick from Toni Kroos.

Just nine minutes later, the victory was sealed by Vinicius Jr. A defensive error from Dortmund allowed Jude Bellingham to set up the Brazilian forward, who calmly slotted the ball past Gregor Kobel to double Real Madrid’s lead and send the Madridista faithful into raptures.

The 2-0 scoreline marked Real Madrid’s ninth consecutive Champions League final victory and solidified their place as the undisputed kings of European club football. The triumph also saw several Real Madrid players, including Dani Carvajal, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, and Nacho, equal Francisco Gento’s incredible record of six European Cup/Champions League titles.

While Borussia Dortmund put in a valiant effort and will undoubtedly feel the sting of missed opportunities, Real Madrid’s experience, resilience, and clinical finishing ultimately proved the difference, adding another illustrious chapter to their unparalleled Champions League legacy.
